The topic of my current event assignment is Kanye West running for president in 2020. The name of the article I have found is, “Kanye West declares 2020 presidential bid at VMA’s” I found my article on CNN online. In my article it talks about Kanye’s speech and how he thinks he would be a great candidate because he has ‘new ideas’. The grammar in Kanye’s speech was scary. He used words such as, “finna” and “bruh”. Just these two words alone show the intelligence of one of our future 2020 presidential candidates. In my opinion this is not something to be made a joke about. I don’t want my future to be based on a bunch of young people voting for somebody who has no idea about anything and being president. A lot of people are not taking this topic seriously because they think Kanye won’t actually win. If lots of people have that mindset then they will vote for Kanye to be funny, and Kanye could win. This event affects me and makes me very angry. I hope America has the common sense to look into voting and not just go vote as a practical joke. America is falling apart and is only getting worse. This may seem like a funny topic, but it needs to be taken seriously.
